The question of sewage treatment in Riviera has received special attention from Sobloco. The development has a complete system of sewage collection and treatment that guarantees totally pollution-free seawater along its 4.5 km of beach.

The sewage collected from apartments, houses and commercial establishments in Riviera de São Lourenço is sent to a Sewage Treatment Plant located 4 km away from the beach via a modern system of pumping stations  and flow towers.

The project anticipates expansion of the system according to occupation levels in Riviera. Riviera Sewage Treatment Plant is formed by anaerobic and other tanks and the process is 100% natural, resulting from a symbiosis between bacteria and algae. 

The flow tower system as it was used in Riviera is unique in Brazil.  It provided a solution to the complex problem of geared pumping to the main discharge pipeline that receives the flow from the flow towers until it reaches to the final pump. The whole system of discharge and biological treatment of the wastewater in Riviera had the assistance of  Santech Consultoria e Comércio, under the supervision of the engineer Joaquim Martins.
